In detail, ours is a three-stage admissions process. In the first instance we invite parents to make their applications to the school. This is an opportunity for parents to provide all the relevant information about their child including medical and therapeutic reports and your own account of your child’s development and needs. This will be considered by our admissions panel which includes education and medical professionals. During the second stage we welcome you and your child to join us for a lesson with an existing class of children. This affords us the opportunity to begin to get to know your child and their needs and for you and your child to become familiar with our team and teaching. The final stage of the application process is an invitation for your child to spend two days at Frederick Hugh House. During your child’s visits time is spent both in an age and ability appropriate class, and with our in-house therapists to establish whether we have the resources and curriculum to meet your child’s needs. Additionally, we are fortunate to have an Educational Psychologist involved in the process. If after any stage we feel we will not be able to meet your child’s needs we will inform you promptly.
Applications can be made to the school office throughout the academic year and children may join us at anytime within the school year according to their individual situation. There is no charge for any stage of our application and assessment process whether or not your child takes up an offer of a place with us.
